OVERVIEW

The Neuro Group is able to offer Telehealth services, which allow for video consultations over the internet. Depending on your condition/problem we can arrange for an initial assessment to be done via Telehealth, then decide upon the next step in your management. Often this involves a followup review in-person. Similarly, for routine uncomplicated followup we are able to arrange for a Telehealth consultation.  This drastically improves time spent on travel, fuel costs and time needed off work. REQUIREMENTS FOR TELEHEALTH CONSULTATIONS

 

Telehealth is a major advance for thousands of rural/remote patients, but it does require a few things to get organised ahead of time:

  • A Valid Referral: You are required to email (admin@theneurogroup.com.au) or fax through a valid referral from your GP prior to your scheduled appointment. This will need to be triaged to ensure it is appropriate to conduct your review via Telehealth.

  • A Completed and Returned New Patient Form: Click here to download

  • Imaging and other investigations/reports: Our Neurologists  will need to see copies of previous tests, where applicable.  Please contact the rooms ahead of time to ensure that we have received all the correct imaging.

  • A Smartphone or Computer: You need a steady internet connection.

  • Google Chrome: The Neuro Group uses COVIU, which runs best on the Google Chrome browser.

  • A Quiet Location: Please arrange for your Telehealth appointment to occur in a quiet place, e.g., home office or similar, where there won’t be interruptions. You will need to be able to hear, and be heard without distraction.

  • A Friend or Family member: It is useful to have someone else present at the appointment to help position the camera and help with some physical tests. This is not essential but is preferred.

 

HOW DO I ACCESS TELEHEALTH?

At the time of your appointment, click the 'Join Telehealth Consultation' button, located at the bottom of this page.

We strongly recommend performing a test-run a few days before your scheduled appointment to ensure that any technical problems can be resolved. Please allow a 1 hour window around the time of your appointment, should your doctor be running late.

 

Please understand that every effort is made to ensure this doesn't occur but complex issues and technical problems occasionally cause this to happen.

HOW DO I GET MY TEST FORMS OR PRESCRIPTIONS? 

Our office will post or email you any necessary paperwork or request forms after your appointment. At this stage, prescriptions will be posted to you (or faxed to your pharmacy if an urgent prescription is required) but we hope to have electronic prescribing up and running soon.

 

TELEHEALTH FEES

All Telehealth consultations attract a private fee which is payable on the day of service. You are entitled to a Medicare rebate which relies on you having a valid referral. Please ensure you provide this prior to your appointment. 

 

Payment is via the Patient Portal which needs to be set-up at your registration. If you do not wish to use the Patient Portal for payment, please speak to The Neuro Group staff prior to your appointment to arrange payment via Bank Transfer.
